Our schools

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime
Our elementary schools
The children who come to us mostly come from the poorest living conditions and are mostly Dalits, the untouchables. They live with their families in simple mud dwellings, without running water or electricity. Since their parents grew up without any schooling, they have no access to well-paid jobs. Because of the little or no income, the parents often send their children out onto the streets to beg. We want to break this cycle with our work. The children in our two schools receive education in the first five classes and a daily hot school meal. This is made possible by donations from our German and international sponsors.
We pave the way for our schoolchildren to complete their university entrance qualification. We work hand in hand with our partner, Siddharta High School. They take in the majority of our children after they have completed the 4th grade.

The “A Bowl of Compassion Primary School” in Tika Bigha, Bodhgaya
In November 2009, we opened the doors of our primary school for needy children in the village of Tika Bigha in Bodhgaya. To date, more than 500 children have learned to read and write with us.

"Flowers of Lakshmi" girls' school
Our girls' school is about an hour's drive from Tikha Bigha/ Bodhgaya. The school is difficult to reach due to the lack of roads. We started classes in 2014 and today 50 girls attend the school.
